Appointment Types

Book on the Morning Appointments

'Book On The Morning' surgeries are usually on Monday and Friday mornings (or Tuesdays after a Bank Holiday Monday). Attend in person from 8.00am or telephone from 8.30am to see a doctor on the same morning.  When all appointment slots are filled you may be invited to attend the next most appropriate surgery.

Should you need medical advice before the next surgery, please inform the Receptionist.

Routine Appointments

Routine appointments may be booked in advance and for the same day to see a specific doctor or for nursing care.

Special examinations and procedures (e.g. cervical smear tests, coil fittings, minor surgery, ante-natal and post-natal checks and HGV or insurance medicals) require particular appointment types, so please let a receptionist know when booking these.

Late Evening and Saturday Appointments

Appointments on Monday evenings and some Saturday mornings may be booked in advance. These appointments are particularly useful for people who find it difficult to attend the surgery during normal working hours due to work commitments or transport problems.

The surgery is not open for routine business at these times, so when you arrive for your appointment, please ring the doorbell.

Telephone Advice & Consultations

Telephone Advice

Telephone Advice may include queries about a prescription, a test result, a hospital appointment, a referral, a form that needs to be completed or advice about a minor ailment. Please call and ask the receptionist who will be able to help you.

Telephone Consultations with your Doctor

If you only need advice from the doctor or nurse you can book a telephone consultation by calling the Surgery. The doctor will call you back and discuss your problem at an allotted time. Please make sure you give the correct phone number to the receptionist.

Telephone appointments are only available during surgery hours.

Advice is also available from the NHS 111 service by calling 111 from your landline or mobile phone.

General Information

In line with local and national guidelines each appointment time is a maximum of ten minutes for one patient. Each family member will need their own separate appointment time booked through the receptionist.

In order to make the best use of your appointment it may be helpful to spend a few moments considering the main reason for your attendance and to focus on dealing with only one or a maximum of two items per appointment slot. Should you feel that your condition would benefit from a longer appointment, please enquire at reception about this option.

We are constantly reviewing our appointments system and do strive to achieve a fair balance for all our patients.

Free Text Reminders

This service reminds you of an appointment via a text message. All registered patients are automatically opted into the service.

Please ensure if you wish to use this service we have your correct mobile telephone number and inform us as soon as possible if your number changes.

If you do not wish to subscribe please contact the surgery and inform reception that you wish to opt out.

If you anticipate that you may require an examination by the Doctor and feel that you would like a chaperone to be present, please make reception aware at the time of booking your appointment so that this can be arranged. Alternatively bring along a member of your family or friend to your appointment.

South Warwickshire GP+ Extended Access Service

South Warwickshire GP+ Extended Access Service

Patients across South Warwickshire are to be offered evening and weekend appointments thanks to a new service, called GP+, being provided by the South Warwickshire GP Federation (SWGP).

From 3 September, patients in South Warwickshire will be able to book face-to-face or telephone appointments at two GP+ ‘hubs’ from 6-9pm on weekdays and 9am-1pm on weekends.

Routine and same day appointments will be offered with GPs, nurses and clinical pharmacists. In addition there will be same day appointments from 6-9pm on weekdays for children aged 0-16 who need treatment after school hours.

South Warwickshire GP+ will run initially from two centrally located and accessible hub locations, Trinity Court Surgery in Stratford-upon-Avon and Waterside Medical Centre in Leamington Spa. The hubs will be staffed by GPs and nurses from local GP practices, with some specialist roles recruited specifically for the new service.

GP+ clinicians will have access to patient records, so that the patient’s full medical history is known and records can be updated regardless of when or where patients are seen (subject to consent).

Appointments for the extended access service can be booked via the practice.
